ComfortDelGro begins free autonomous shuttle rides in Punggol
Autonomous vehicle rides are open to the public from Jun 22 and can be booked via the company’s Zig app or BookingSG
[SINGAPORE] Transport operator ComfortDelGro (CDG) has opened rides on its autonomous vehicle (AV) shuttle service in Punggol to the public, free of charge.
On Monday (Jun 22), the company said that free rides would be available for booking on its Zig app or the government-backed BookingSG platform.
The vehicles will run on a 25-minute route that includes pickup/drop-off points at Punggol Coast Mall, One Punggol/Sam Kee LRT station and Block 420A Northshore Drive.
They will operate from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm daily.
In July, a longer 50-minute route will be available, covering Oasis Terraces, Punggol Plaza and the housing estates Waterway Sunrise I and II as well.
Cheng Siak Kian, the managing director and group CEO of CDG, said that the company is “integrating technology, infrastructure, and operational know-how needed to deploy AV services safely and at scale. This launch gives us greater confidence as we work towards our 2030 targets”.
Punggol is the company’s second public AV service after Guangzhou, China, where commercial operations began in March 2025. CDG aims to build up its AV offerings in China and Singapore, aiming for 10 per cent of its global point-to-point transport fleet to be autonomous by 2030.
Public rides follow CDG’s invite-only test that began in April, and more than 1,500 riders have been on the service.
The company has five AVs in its fleet currently.

This comes as Singapore tests AVs and gathers public views on laws regarding the technology, with a view to full commercial operation in the coming years.
Currently, two AV projects are being tested in Punggol, both featuring Singapore companies that have teamed up with China AV tech firms: CDG with Pony.ai and ride-hailing company Grab with WeRide.
The timing and cost of paid AV shuttle services have not been confirmed. In March, it was reported that rides are currently complimentary for an introductory phase, with a S$4 fare expected from mid-2026.
CDG has not indicated when paid shuttle services will commence, nor commented on confirmed pricing, but said that it is actively in discussion with the Land Transport Authority regarding fares.
