SIA, Scoot resume VTL and non-VTL flights to India
SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) and its budget arm Scoot will resume flights between Singapore and India following the announcement of a vaccinated travel lane (VTL) between the 2 countries, the airlines said in a statement on Nov 23.
SIA will resume both VTL and non-VTL flights, while Scoot will restart its non-VTL services, with travellers on non-VTL flights into Singapore still subject to prevailing health control measures such as a 7-day quarantine.
SIA will operate daily VTL flights from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore from Nov 29. The flights are open for booking and will be indicated as VTL flights on SIA's website accordingly.
The flag carrier will also progressively operate non-VTL services from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kolkata to Singapore from Nov 29.
As for Scoot, it will operate non-VTL services 4 times a week between Singapore and Hyderabad from Nov 30, and non-VTL flights 3 times a week between Singapore and Tiruchirappalli from Dec 2.
From January 2022, Scoot will also increase its Singapore-Tiruchirappalli service to 5 times a week, and resume its Singapore-Amritsar service with 5 times weekly non-VTL flights.
SIA noted that travellers must ensure they are eligible to travel under the VTL arrangements before their flight. If travellers are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and wish to travel on the VTL flights, they would need to apply for a vaccinated travel pass (VTP) prior to their visa application.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore announced earlier that it would start 6 flights a day from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore from Nov 29 to kickstart the VTL. It added that applications for VTPs for short-term visitors and long-term passholders from India would start on Nov 22, 6 pm Singapore time.
Shares of SIA were trading at S$5.29 as at the midday break on Nov 24, up S$0.02 or 0.4 per cent.
