ST Engineering names its group COO and commercial aerospace president as group deputy CEO
The group deputy CEO post has been vacant for 9 years, but the company says filling it now reflects its expansion
[SINGAPORE] ST Engineering has appointed Jeffrey Lam as group deputy chief executive officer (CEO), effective Jun 1, 2026.
Lam, currently chief operating officer (operations excellence) and president of commercial aerospace in the company, will step down from both roles, the group said on Thursday (May 28).
In his new role, the 54-year-old will continue to report to group president and chief executive officer Vincent Chong, and remain a member of the group executive committee.
Chong said: “With his strong track record in business management and leadership, (Lam) brings the experience and perspectives to advance our strategic priorities and strengthen our organisational capabilities across the group.”
The position of deputy CEO had been vacant for nine years, following the retirement of Lee Fook Sun in 2017.
ST Engineering said Lam’s appointment reflects its continued expansion, which is supported by a robust order book and disciplined execution of its strategy.
“As the group continues to expand, the increasing breadth of its businesses requires stronger focus at the group level to drive alignment and synergies across the organisation,” it added.
Earlier in May, the group posted an 11 per cent rise in revenue to S$3.3 billion in its first quarter ended Mar 31, from S$2.9 billion in the previous corresponding period. The growth was attributed to strong revenue growth in its core business segments.
ST Engineering said that as deputy CEO, Lam will support the group CEO in “advancing key enterprise priorities, capturing group-wide synergies and strengthening organisational excellence”.
He will also provide management oversight for the commercial aerospace business.
ST Engineering will appoint Kevin Chow, currently the head of aerostructures and systems at commercial aerospace, to succeed Lam as president of commercial aerospace.
Lam has been with ST Engineering since 2011, and has spent about 15 years in the group’s aerospace business.
He holds multiple qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering, Bachelor of Arts in French, and a Master of Science in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan; he also holds a diploma in applied economics from Universite d’Aix-Marseille III and completed an advanced management programme at Harvard University.
