SGX’s new plan to draw new listings
January 2026 opens with something unusual in Singapore equities: optimism that isn’t immediately followed by an anxious glance at global headlines. With the Straits Times Index (STI) hitting fresh highs last year and long-awaited reforms finally about to land, the market feels caught between pride in 2025’s gains and curiosity about whether the real story is only just beginning.
In this week’s Mark To Market, a podcast of BT Correspondents, presenter Ben Paul walks listeners through this moment of anticipation, where sentiment and policy are pulling in the same direction. The Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) multibillion-dollar Equity Market Development Programme (EMDP) and the upcoming SGX–Nasdaq dual-listing bridge both arrive with big promises: deeper liquidity, stronger price discovery and a listings pipeline that might stop leaking talent overseas.
But Paul also asks the uncomfortable question: will any of it actually work?
Most intriguingly, he considers what that means for investors in 2026. Should they stick with proven value-unlockers, take a chance on the next crop of tech-tilted listings, or wait to see whether these reforms shift behaviour where it counts?
Why listen
- A market at a turning point: Is Singapore finally fixing its listings drought?
- The SGX–Nasdaq bridge decoded: What it promises and what could still go sideways.
- Winners, laggards and surprises: Why 2025’s IPO performance matters more than you think.
- Positioning for 2026: How to read the signals before everyone else does.
Paul doesn’t give away the ending, but he does leave you with something to chew on. If Singapore’s equity market is about to change, this is the moment to understand how. Listen now.
