LOGISTICS assets are in high demand as industrial landlords seek to capture a bigger slice of the "new economy" pie that has outperformed other sectors amid the pandemic. But the rush to buy has pushed prices up, which may cap investment appetite.

Mapletree Logistics Trust (MLT) M44U proposed on Monday (Nov 22) to acquire 17 logistics assets in China, Vietnam and Japan for S$1.5 billion - the latest in a series of acquisitions for logistics-focused Singapore-listed real estate investment trusts (S-Reits).

MLT's deal brings announced asset acquisitions for S-Reits so far this year to at least S$10.7 billion in total purchase consideration, going by data compiled by the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
