‘Farm-to-closet’ social enterprise makes waves in Indonesia’s fashion industry
A FASHION start-up in Indonesia is making waves in the industry by making clothes using 100 per cent natural dyes, and giving its customers the option to trace the journey of the fabric they buy — right down to the artisan who produced it.
SukkhaCitta, a “farm-to-closet” social enterprise founded by 32-year-old Denica Riadini-Flesch, is introducing regenerative methods to the fashion industry, and pushing the boundaries in sustainable living.
“In our industry, there is no traceability in the supply chain,” she told The Business Times in a recent interview. “We don’t know how the materials are made, so I wanted to change that by working directly with the cotton farmers, and even growing our own cotton.”
