Scoot resumes flights to seven more cities, including Tokyo
SINGAPORE Airline's (SIA) budget carrier Scoot on Tuesday announced it is resuming flights to seven more destinations this month.
They are Clark in the Philippines, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, as well as Palembang, Pekanbaru and Yogyakarta in Indonesia.
For the Kaohsiung and Osaka routes, Scoot noted that flights between Singapore and Osaka - which transit at Kaohsiung - are not available for purchase yet, because transit at the Taiwanese destination is not allowed at the moment. Instead, passengers can only book Singapore-Kaohsiung flights and Kaohsiung-Osaka flights for now.
Yogyakarta is one of six Indonesian destinations previously operated by SIA's regional wing SilkAir, which are being transferred to Scoot. The Singapore-Yogyakarta route will be the first among the six to commence operations, and is scheduled to start on Sept 29.
The five other cities being transferred from SilkAir to Scoot are Balikpapan, Makassar, Semarang, Lombok and Manado.
The budget airline also said it has resumed the pre-ordering of meals on flights, albeit with a limited menu.

However, due to regulatory reasons, pre-ordering of meals is not available for certain routes. Instead, refreshment packs will be placed on seats for those flights.
Purchase of meals and beverages on board is not available until further notice.
Scoot on Tuesday again extended its one-time free date change for new bookings on its website, app, and WeChat mini booking site to Nov 30, from Sept 30.
It also extended the deadline of its travel-waiver policy to flights departing up to Nov 30.
The airline noted that flight schedules may be subject to change due to regulatory reasons.
SIA shares were trading at S$3.66 as at 4.05pm on Tuesday, up S$0.01 or 0.3 per cent.
