Asean+3 likely to grow 6% in 2021: AMRO
But macroeconomic surveillance agency warns that measures to deal with Covid-19 must be effective

ECONOMIC growth in Asean, China, Japan and South Korea (Asean+3) are tipped to bounce back strongly from a flat showing this year to post a 6 per cent gain in 2021, according to regional macroeconomic surveillance organisation AMRO.
"Regional growth is expected to slow sharply this year to 0.0 per cent, from 4.8 per cent in 2019, before rebounding strongly in 2021," says AMRO's chief economist Hoe Ee Khor in a virtual media presentation of its latest forecast. "We expect a gradual U-shaped rcovery in the Asean+3 region, led by China."
