While the jury is still out on the issue, having a gender-diverse board is necessary because women make up half the global talent pool and are disproportionately under-represented.
THE push for gender diversity, especially on listed boards, has been relentless, not just in Singapore, but also across the world.
To be sure, progress has been made, though not everyone is happy. For its proponents, progress has not been fast enough, while sceptics complain of an overdone exercise in political correctness.
