SOMETIMES a phrase emerges that sets the tone for a discussion and gets repeated by almost every speaker. That was the International Chamber of Shipping's (ICS) 2019 Conference, Setting Course for 2050: Powering Global Trade, last week.
Early in the proceedings, it was said there was no "silver bullet" to solve the problem of powering global trade without the use of fossil fuel but this was soon followed by the suggestion that there could be "silver buckshot".
Confronting delegates was the reality of powering global trade without the use of fossil fuels.
