May's deal hangs on the EU concessions A-G Cox can obtain
She is travelling to Strasbourg in a bid to break an impasse in the intensive negotiations with the EU
London
BRITISH Prime Minister Theresa May is praying that Attorney-General Geoffrey Cox will obtain sufficient European Union (EU) concessions to encourage Brexiteer MPs to vote for her withdrawal deal.
Ireland's Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said that obstacles in the negotiations remain, and Mrs May is set to travel to Strasbourg late on Monday in a bid to break an impasse in the talks. The EU is trying to put together a Brexit proposal to assuage concerns over the "backstop" insurance policy for the Irish border, Mr Coveney said, but would not compromise on the EU's core priorities in its bid to provide reassurance.
