STI up 0.4% despite thin trading volume
SHARES on the Singapore bourse ended higher, albeit in a muted session of trading as the US markets were closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving.
Jasper Lawler, the research head at London Capital Group, said: "This meant thin trading volumes across the globe, but no pause in the wild swings that have been characteristic of recent sessions."
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) rose 11.11 points, or 0.4 per cent to 3,052.49, with gainers outnumbering losers 196 to 175. Turnover however, came in at 1.1 billion shares worth S$530.9 million, versus a churn of some 1.2 billion shares worth S$669.8 million the previous day.
