Singapore stocks: STI resumes Friday afternoon trading at 3,201.60, down 0.93%
SINGAPORE stocks continued on a downward path as trading resumed on Friday afternoon, with the Straits Times Index down on the day by 0.93 per cent, or 29.99 points, to 3,201.60 as at 1.06pm.
Losers outnumbered gainers 226 to 98 after 857.7 million shares worth S$500.6 million changed hands. Jardine Cycle & Carriage gave up 76 Singapore cents or 2.4 per cent to trade at S$30.47, while Venture Corp was down 29 cents or 1.6 per cent at S$17.87.
Among the most heavily traded by volume were Advanced Systems with 123.63 million shares traded, although its stock was back to its opening price of 0.1 Singapore cent by 1.20pm. Meanwhile, Thomson Medical gained 0.3 cent or 3.6 per cent to 8.6 cents with 75.09 million shares traded.
