Singapore equities sink into the red tracking Wall St losses
SINGAPORE stocks fell on Friday, tracking Wall Street losses overnight.
Concerns over global trade persisted after US-China talks wrapped up with no major breakthrough. Meanwhile, the trade dispute between the two largest economies escalated with the activation of yet another round of tariffs on US$16 billion worth of each country's goods.
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) lost 36.89 points, or 1.1 per cent, to close the week at 3,213. Decliners outnumbered advancers 250 to 141, after about 1.25 billion shares worth S$1.08 billion changed hands.
