Shares of North American airlines enjoy good lift-off in September

GLOBAL airline share prices edged up by 0.9 per cent in September - the first month-on-month increase since June - boosted by a recovery in the shares of North American airlines.
The latest financial monitor from the International Air Transport Association (Iata) showed that the North American index was up 3 per cent in September. Compared to a year ago, North American airline shares have jumped 25 per cent but are down 3.5 per cent from the beginning of the year. In contrast, the European share price index edged down 0.6 per cent month on month in September while the Asia-Pacific index dipped 1.1 per cent.
