Singapore rolls out guidelines on dealing with terrorist attacks at the workplace
DEPUTY Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean this morning rolled out guidelines on what to do at the workplace in dealing with terrorist attacks.
The SGSecure Guide for Workplaces, one of the key initiatives to recruit businesses' support in Singapore's fight against terrorism, provides guidelines on how to prepare workers, protect the workplace and partner the community when there's a terrorist attack.
"Our goal is to strengthen the preparedness of our workplaces," said Mr Teo who is also coordinating minister for national security. "This means preparing our workforce to deal with the terrorist threat; creating protected workplaces with response plans to kick in should an incident occur; and partnering the community to maintain vigilance and improve our readiness to respond."
He urged every company to appoint and register an SGSecure representative with the Ministry of Manpower as the point-of-contact should there be an incident. The SGSecure representative can also be the company's SGSecure advocate to prepare other workers.
Mr Teo was speaking at the National Security Conference hosted by the Singapore Business Federation.
