Tokyo: Stocks open lower

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday as the yen strengthened against the US dollar and investors contemplated the minutes from the US Federal Reserve's latest meeting.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.13 per cent, or 24.91 points, to 19,354.96 in early trading while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.13 per cent, or 2.10 points, at 1,554.99.
