Asia looking to tap Europe's offshore wind expertise
Dong Energy riding on strong interest in renewable energy source.
OFFSHORE wind is gaining momentum in Asia, and the region is pivoting towards tapping north-west Europe's experience with this fast-expanding renewable energy source.
Part of Asia's interest in offshore wind is fed by world leaders' declared commitment towards decarbonising their economies at the 2015 United Nation Climate Change Conference, or COP21. The pact has since entered into force after having been ratified by more than 55 countries representing 55 per cent of global emissions. These include the United States and China, which account for an estimated combined share of 38 per cent of the world's carbon emissions.
Dong Energy's chief strategy officer Martin Neubert says not a week went by after COP21 without some international delegation calling on the Copenhagen headquarters of the Danish energy company.
