Tokyo: Stocks open higher
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, helped by a cheaper yen as the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President-elect Donald Trump ended their first meeting in New York.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, rose 0.87 per cent, or 156.24 points, to 18,018.87 in the first minutes of trading, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.57 per cent, or 11.61 points, at 1,435.00.
The US dollar changed hands at 110.09 yen, up from 109.35 yen a day before.
