Singapore: Shares open flat on Wednesday
SINGAPORE stocks opened flat on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index down by 1.34 points or 0.019 per cent to 2,830.07.
This followed a Wall Street rally overnight owing to a slew of market-beating results from marquee companies, Reuters reported. Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S data showed that of the 52 S&P 500 companies that have reported results to date for the third quarter, 81 per cent have reported earnings that have topped analysts' average estimates.
In Singapore, about 39.6 million shares worth S$66 million in total changed hands as at 9am. Gainers outnumbered losers 95 to 43.
The most actively traded counter was OLS, which rose 16.7 per cent to S$0.007 with about nine million shares changing hands. Other actives included Alliance Mineral and Jasper Investments.
