SHARE prices in Singapore opened higher on Thursday with the key Straits Times Index up 22.17 points at 2,872.91.

US markets rallied on Wednesday with the Nasdaq Composite ending the day at a record, after the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged.

The Fed decision was widely expected by markets and may remove some uncertainty in the short term, said KGI Fraser Securities.

Markets are now expecting a 59.3 per cent probability of a rate hike in December.
