Tokyo: Stocks fall at open on stronger yen, weak oil

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares tumbled Thursday in opening deals after the yen jumped to a one-month high against the dollar in US trade and after Wall Street fell as oil prices hit fresh seven-year lows.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 1.20 per cent, or 231.05 points, at 19,070.02, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 1.00 per cent, or 15.62 points, to 1,539.96.
