On March 23, Singaporeans woke up to the news that Lee Kuan Yew had passed away. In the days and weeks that followed, thousands of people from all walks of life paid their respects to the late prime minister at locations all around the country in an unprecedented outpouring of grief.
In a decisive victory for the People's Action Party, it garnered close to 70% of the votes (winning 83 of 89 Parliament seats).
