Indonesia Aug trade seen in surplus: central bank official
[JAKARTA] Indonesia is expected to post a trade surplus in August, which would be a ninth consecutive month of surpluses, a senior central bank official said on Friday.
The central bank also expects annual growth of gross domestic product to remain below 5 per cent in the third quarter, Juda Agung, executive director of Bank Indonesia's monetary and economic policy, told reporters.
Despite slower growth, the central bank said it will maintain its tight monetary stance due to global uncertainty, Mr Agung added.
Indonesia's statistics bureau is due to release August trade data on Tuesday.
