China: Shares higher in morning trade
[SHANGHAI] Chinese shares were higher in morning trade on Friday, tracking overnight gains in US stocks, but caution reigned ahead of a long holiday for Chinese New Year, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.50 per cent, or 15.77 points, to 3,189.19.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, climbed 0.62 per cent, or 9.56 points, to 1,554.36.
China's financial markets will be closed for a week from February 18.
