Value of June securities traded slides 37%
Trading volume hit by World Cup fever, lacklustre market
WORLD Cup fever combined with an already meandering market took a toll on the total value of securities traded on the Singapore Exchange last month.
June's value of $20.5 billion was down a sharp 37 per cent from a year ago and down 12 per cent from May.
This translated to a daily average securities value of $978 million, a fall of 40 per cent year-on-year and 16 per cent month-on-month.
