It expects to spend $500,000 annually to stay within personal data law
SINGTEL has shelled out more than $2 million to make sure that it complies with the new personal data protection law that looms on July 2, the telco revealed yesterday.
On top of that, SingTel anticipates spending another $500,000 annually on the operating cost of compliance, such as staff training and paying to run its vast subscriber base's phone numbers through the Do Not Call (DNC) registry.
Every month, SingTel calls 150,000 to 200,000 customers with promotion offers and information about services, according to Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO, Consumer Singapore.
