mm2 ties up with Turner Asia Pacific to produce five films
A WHOLLY owned subsidiary of film producer mm2 Asia has agreed to co-produce five cinematic films with a Time Warner company over the next three years.
mm2 Entertainment Pte Ltd entered into an agreement with Turner Asia Pacific, the Asian branch of Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, marking Turner's first foray into film production in South-east Asia as part of a wider strategic effort to invest and produce more Asian content.
Both companies will complement each other in the areas of production, distribution and marketing to maximise commercial value and audience reach, they said in a press release.
Turner Asia Pacific manages pay-TV and free-TV channels, and creates and distributes brands such as CNN and HBO in South Asia.
The first film to be released under the multimillion-dollar collaboration is Wonder Boy, a biopic about Singaporean singer and songwriter Dick Lee that is scheduled to be released in theatres on Aug 3 this year.
Chang Long Jong, CEO of mm2, said the group is very happy and proud to embark on this journey with Turner.
"We look forward to co-producing an exciting slate of films through this landmark collaboration," he said. "As we build on our strong base in the Asia market through our movie and media investments, we will continue to forge more such win-win relationships in the future."
