Chee rebuts PAP's remarks on character
The SDP candidate says the party 'will not engage in below-the-belt politics'
Singapore
THE contest for Bukit Batok hotted up further on Sunday as the Singapore Democratic Party's (SDP) candidate, Chee Soon Juan, rebutted remarks made about his character by the ruling People's Action Party (PAP).
Starting his rally speech in Mandarin before switching to English, Dr Chee told the rally crowd that the SDP "will not engage in below-the-belt politics", which is why the affair of former PAP member of parliament (MP) for Bukit Batok, David Ong "is off the table" and the SDP will not bring up the matter in its campaign going forth.
