SMRT's probe into Pasir Ris accident to conclude next week
PUBLIC transport operator SMRT Corporation's internal investigations into the cause of an accident in Pasir Ris last week that killed two of its staff members will be completed next week, the company said on Wednesday.
The findings will first be reviewed by a panel comprising independent safety specialists and members of the company's board risk committee. It will then be handed over to the police and the Ministry of Manpower for their investigations, the firm said.
A board-level safety review committee is being put in place to look into safety-related matters in trains, SMRT said. "The committee will comprehensively review all frameworks, structures, processes and procedures, and seek assurance that safety is accorded the highest attention and priority in SMRT Trains' operations and maintenance services."
The panel will be chaired by an SMRT board member and include independent members.
