Sweet boost for Wilmar's Q1 profit
Sugar, tropical oils offset losses in other segments to raise gain by 26%
Singapore
AN upswing in the tropical oils segment plus a better showing from the sugar business - thanks to improved milling, refining and merchandising activities - lifted agri-giant Wilmar International's net profit for the first quarter by 26.4 per cent to S$257 million.
Volume growth in the consumer products business that has been steady since the second quarter of financial year 2018 also helped boost the group's bottomline.
