Time for insurance companies to clean up their act

MAKING an insurance claim should be made simple, in fact idiot friendly - hope no one takes offence here, but this is not the time to be politically correct - because the event usually happens when the policyholder is feeling low.

Two cases prompted this commentary. My mother fell in April last year, resulting in a cut at the back of her head just before she was to fly off to Europe for a cruise. At Tan Tock Seng Hospital the scan showed a small bleed in the brain - traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage.

Fortunately her injuries were not serious, she just needed to rest, the bleed would be absorbed, and the wound which was stapled together would eventually heal, said the doctors. But at her age of 91 it meant she was disoriented for a period, and naturally her trip was cancelled.
