Watch business stays downbeat

LIKE the rest of Asia, Singapore's presence was noticeably reduced at this year's Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva - even though the number of exhibitors at the luxury watch fair jumped 60 per cent from a year ago.
Singapore watch retailers who have made the annual trip to order the latest Swiss timepieces continued to turn up at the week-long mega event last month, but with a smaller buying team this time. The number of Singaporean journalists who covered SIHH 2016 was also fewer.
