FROM Wednesday, up to 2,700 participants and 1,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be able to upskill under a new initiative launched by Facebook Singapore, as the Big Tech firm aims to support Singapore's journey towards a smart nation.

Upskill with Facebook Singapore was launched on Wednesday, with Minister for Communications and Information S Iswaran gracing the virtual launch as guest of honour for a panel discussion on upskilling and digitalisation.

"As the sector expands, industry partners like Facebook are well placed to identify training opportunities that best meet the sector's emerging needs, and help workers acquire in-demand tech skills and be part of a thriving digital future. I welcome more collaborations like this with our industry partners," Mr Iswaran said.

The four programmes under Upskill with Facebook Singapore are Facebook Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate, Rise, Facebook Blueprint Higher Education and Boost.

These programmes are curated by Facebook in partnership with technology trade association SGTech and supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, Enterprise Singapore and Digital Industry Singapore, a government office launched in 2019 to grow Singapore's tech sector.

Facebook Social Media Marketing Professional Certification targets entry-level graduates and working professionals who can attend webinars conducted by Facebook employees and workshops by industry experts. Upon completion, they will be a certified social media marketing professional or digital marketing associate.
