Will EU bend to May's mandate for changes to Brexit deal?

European Council President, French, Irish and other EU leaders have flatly refused to change withdrawal pact

UK Prime Minister Theresa May is heading for a tough negotiating schedule with the European Union (EU) to achieve changes in the original Brexit agreement.

On the face of it Mrs May has won a victory. She now has a mandate from almost all Conservative MPs, Northern Ireland's Democrat Unionists and some Labour and independent MPs to go to Brussels and negotiate a better deal for the UK Parliament. The aim is to avoid a disruptive "no deal" crash out exit from the EU.
