[LONDON] Europe's stock markets were largely stable at the open on Tuesday, with Frankfurt trading shut for a German public holiday.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index did manage to push ahead, however, gaining almost 0.2 per cent to 7,499.52 points compared with the close on Monday.

In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 and Madrid's IBEX 35 were virtually flat at 5,492.63 and 10,445.9 points respectively.
