Tokyo: Stocks close down ahead of Fed meet

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as investors awaited the outcome of a two-day Fed meeting later in the day.
The Nikkei 225 index edged down 0.08 per cent, or 15.23 points, to close at 19,883.52, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues fell 0.11 per cent, or 1.74 points, to end at 1,591.77.
