Ferry sector confronts new sulphur rules

THE challenges and opportunities posed by alternative fuels came to the fore during global ferry operator organisation Interferry's annual conference in Split, Croatia, earlier this month.

The global shipping industry is struggling to decide how to deal with the impending 0.5 per cent sulphur in fuel limit. The cap comes into effect in 2020 and is certainly concentrating minds.
