Recall for 2.1m cars to fix air-bags deploying in non-crash conditions

MORE than 2.1 million previously recalled Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac and Toyota vehicles will be called back for further repairs following reports that their air bags could deploy while driving, the US Transportation Department said on Saturday.
The new recall covers vehicles made in the early 2000s with an electronic component from TRW Automotive Holdings Corp, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The models involved are the Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon from 2002 to 2004 model years, the agency said.
