SOME 3,000 resident landscape maintenance workers will get higher wages, better skills training and a clearer career progression path from next year, with the launch of the progressive wage model for the landscape industry on Friday.

The progressive wage model stipulates a basic minimum wage of S$1,300 for full-time landscape workers who are Singaporeans or permanent residents. That is a 30 per cent bump from the present median basic wage, which has remained at around S$1,000 since 2009.
