Scoot's first Dreamliner touches down at Changi Airport
LOW-COST, medium/long-haul carrier Scoot has received its first Boeing 787 aircraft, the first of 20.
The 787-9 aircraft, named "Dream Start", was welcomed at Changi Airport on Monday morning to a ceremonial water cannon salute.
The passengers aboard the delivery flight TZ787, which departed from Seattle, included members of the media, contest winners and Scoot staff.
Chief executive Campbell Wilson said: "Dream Start, the first of 20 787s Scoot will receive over the next few years, is a game changer. It will allow us to triple in size, add new destinations, increase frequencies and grow the Singapore hub, all whilst continuing to offer unbeatable value airfares."
Scoot's Dreamliners will offer new and improved seats, inflight Internet connectivity, more comfortable cabin pressure and humidity, lower noise and more importantly, greater fuel efficiencies. It is currently using B777 aircraft which it acquired from parent Singapore Airlines.
Scoot will be deploying its first 787 to Perth.
Dinesh Keskar, senior vice-president of sales (Asia Pacific) for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, added: "The new Dreamliner will bring great value to Scoot's operations and provide an exceptional experience for Scoot's passengers."
