Jardine, ComfortDelGro boost STI
Index up 16.22 points at 3,434.24, regaining all of Monday's loss in mixed session
THANKS mainly to rises in the Jardine group and ComfortDelgro, the Straits Times Index on Tuesday recorded a 16.22 points rise to 3,434.24, regaining all of the 13 points it lost on Monday.
Turnover, however, was a mediocre 974 million units worth S$1.1 billion and excluding warrants the advance-decline score was decidedly mixed 207-204, indicating limited investor participation.
The index's main contributor was Jardine Matheson, whose US$1.33 or 2 per cent jump to US$66.23 added five points to the STI. Transport firm ComfortDelGro came next, its sudden S$0.15 or 5 per cent rise to S$3.09 with 13.4 million traded adding a further 3.5 points.
