CAAS, Airways New Zealand sign MOU to promote aviation learning, capabilities
THE Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Airways New Zealand have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to improve capabilities in air traffic management.
The MOU with Airways - a New Zealand state-owned air navigation service provider - will pave the way for cooperation in air traffic management (ATM) and air navigation services (ANS), including the exchange of information and expertise, professional development and collaboration on research.
"This partnership between two of the leading air navigation service providers in the Asia-Pacific region will bolster our capabilities to manage the complexities of increasing air traffic more safely and efficiently," said CAAS director-general Kevin Shum.
Airways CEO Ed Sims said that the MOU demonstrated the importance of closer Asia-Pacific collaboration, adding: "Asia-Pacific is facing a period of unprecedented growth with demand for highly skilled aviation professionals only set to grow. Airways New Zealand is delighted to share its expertise in aviation training with CAAS."
The MOU was signed by Mr Sims and Mr Shum during the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2016 on May 6 in Queenstown, New Zealand.
