Being global but thinking locally
New HPE more focused now on creating more customer and solution-centric framework for the company, says its MD.
LOH Khai Peng, the Singapore managing director of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), thinks his company is more local than a multinational since it has been around for 45 years, as one of the earliest multinational IT companies to set up shop in the Republic.
Despite its strong pedigree, HPE is a very new company in its latest avatar. Last November, the iconic IT company, Hewlett Packard (HP), was split into two - with HPE taking the servers, services, cloud and other enterprise business, and HP Inc taking the PC and printer division of erstwhile HP. Mr Loh, however, feels HPE has every right to claim the HP heritage and connection with Singapore.
Talking to The Business Times, he says HP practically grew up with the country.
