Institutional investors see hedge funds as panacea for market uncertainty

PENSION funds, other institutions and family offices are buying hedge funds hoping that they will be an antidote to uncertainty.
The global stock market rally this year has taken the vast majority of investors by surprise. Such were the market swings in 2018 and in particular the sharp downturn in the final quarter of last year, that investors are fretting that the sharp rally in the first four months of the year cannot last.
