However, the technology advancements also pose substantial challenges for chief information officers (CIOs) and IT departments.
According to Gartner's report, 89 per cent of CIO respondents agree that the digital world engenders new, vastly different and higher levels of risk, and the discipline of risk management is not keeping up. In the past few years, we've heard about many security breaches, and data and information leaks, which involved large, well-known organisations. Such instances are widely reported and discussed when a big player is at fault, but SME business owners should recognise that their companies are also under threat.
