We walk past them all the time - at train stations, bus stops, shopping malls and of course, in cinema lobbies - and the striking ones sometimes make us do a double take. But to some, movie posters are more than just a marketing tool. The art and passion behind creating one is explored in 24x36: A Movie about Posters. Director Kevin Burke's documentary looks back on the bygone era of illustrated posters - where the hand-drawn artwork of films like Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, Steven Spielberg's The Goonies and Indiana Jones, and the James Bond franchise have become classics in their own right and are as treasured as the movies themselves. Computers have all but phased out that industry but in recent years, a new generation of passionate illustrators has risen to create their own fan versions, reigniting the fire of that medium.
