Regulations here ensure that audit practices uphold high standards

Published Mon, Jul 2, 2018 · 09:50 PM

WE refer to the commentary by David Mason "Make auditing a public service?" (BT June 27).

We would like to highlight that regulations are well established in Singapore to ensure that audit practices maintain high professional and ethical standards.

The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), as the national accountancy body and standard-setter of Singapore auditing standards and ethical standards, is committed to the development of high-quality standards that serve the public interest. The standards are currently aligned with international standards, and there is an ongoing effort to ensure that this remains so. ISCA also works together with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra), which regulates the audit profession, to ensure that the standards development process is robust, credible and promotes public confidence.
