Yet by the end of 1960, the King of Rock and Roll pulled off an amazing feat and hit a milestone by being the first artist in recording history to sell 75 million records... while on a career hiatus.
This was thanks to a sly move by his label RCA, which signed him in 1955, steadily releasing pre-recorded content while he was in the army.
