The customer is king may be an age-old business mantra, but it has never been truer than it is today. Over the past three years, the On-Demand Economy (ODE) has disrupted established businesses as more and more consumers use internet and mobile technologies to gain instant access to goods, services, experiences, resources, information, and money without the burden of ownership or long-term commitment.

Popularised by the likes of Grab, Go-Jek, Didi, Uber and Airbnb, the On-Demand Economy (ODE) has emerged as a worldwide movement that is shaping the global economy and is influencing industries such as transportation, travel, and retail. The ODE is also known as the sharing economy, the peer-to-peer economy, the gig economy, and the platform economy - but no matter what you call it, on-demand platforms and services are changing the way people work and interact with businesses of any size.
